Yes! Our instructors are trained to teach students at all levels- beginner through advanced. No partner is required!
Typically the dress here is dressy casual. Many of our students come straight from work to their lessons. Just be sure you are comfortable and can move easily in your clothes. The most important thing to take into consideration is footwear. If you have shoes with a leather sole, these will be ideal, as they will allow your foot to slide across the floor. For ladies, make sure that your heels are not so high that you are uncomfortable or have trouble keeping your balance. Platforms, flip flops, or sneakers are not recommended. Once you begin dancing on a regular basis, you may consider purchasing ballroom dance shoes, as they are the most comfortable and allow your feet to articulate properly.
How long will it take to learn to dance?
This will vary based on numerous factors, such as your dancing goals, the number of lessons you take per week, and how much you practice. There is no limit to how much you can improve! Many of our social dance students feel like they have a solid foundation within six months.
How long are each of your lessons?
Our lessons are 45 minutes in length.
Can you teach me a custom-choreographed routine?
Yes! We can create a custom routine for our students for any occasion, be it a first dance for a wedding, or just wanting to show off their best moves.
Do you compete?
Yes, we have several students who compete nationwide and are ranked in the Dancesport Top 20 students! If dancing competitively is something you are interested in, please contact us for more information.
I have absolutely no rhythm. Can I still learn to dance?
Absolutely! Rhythm can be taught, just like any skill. With some practice, you will be feeling the beat in no time!
I’m an okay dancer, but my fiancé has two left feet and is not interested in learning to dance. What can I do about this?
Encourage him to come in for our newcomer special first lessons. He will enjoy it so much more than he ever expected! What most people don’t realize about learning to dance is that absolutely no skill or previous experience is necessary! We provide you with all of the steps and tools you need to become a confident dancer.
How will dancing help me get fit?
Dancing is a great way to burn calories while having tons of fun AND learning a skill that will last a lifetime! Studies have also shown that ballroom dancing decreases stress levels, increases serotonin, and makes you smarter! Dancing frequently increases cognitive acuity at all ages, and helps to ward off Alzheimer’s and other dementia.
